Hi there!
To anyone still reading this blog... thank you! I apologize for the 7-8 week absence. A lot has been going on and I have left my blog (and you!) out of the loop. But I'm back and I promise to post much more often.
In my last update I indicated that I am postponing my leave date until August. August may turn into September depending on the price of plane tickets between the two months.
In my last update I also indicated that I have been diagnosed with a tumor on my pituitary gland. I am going to see Dr. Ezat at Mount Sinai on June 26th. He will be determining the nature of the growth and if I need any further treatment. Please continue to pray for healing upon my body.
In timing with the anticipated leave date of May 16 (which changed as indicated above) I finished up my job at The Embassy on April 27th. The last few weeks there were very busy with trying to finish up some outstanding projects and training multiple volunteers to do various aspects of the Office Administration role that I was vacating.
So what's a girl to do for 4 months while she waits for clearance (health-wise) to move to Africa? Well, she moves 2 hours away to help her parent's at their new store. So after a hectic week and a half of packing, and visiting with friends I moved to Port Stanley. Since arriving here on May 6 I have been keeping very busy with store planning and merchandising, filling in at the store, setting up accounting practices, researching product lines, buying trips, grocery shopping, laundry, making meals, organizing my room, chatting online with friends, reading and walking. Now that things are stabilizing I'm again focusing effort on raising more funds to volunteer in Tanzania for the year. So expect to hear more from me on that front.
